Delivered face to face, our licence to operate a forklift truck course in Brisbane combines practical skills development, classroom-based learning, and formal assessment aligned with national high risk work requirements — giving you a clear pathway to your forklift licence QLD.

The course runs over 2 days of face-to-face training plus 1 day of assessment, covering task planning, pre-operational checks, load stability, safe operation, and shutdown and securing procedures. Assessment includes theory, calculations and practical components, and you’ll need a successful outcome in the knowledge components before moving to the practical assessment. Training and assessment can take place at one of our dedicated Brisbane facilities or at your site, provided the correct equipment is available — suiting individuals and employers in resources, construction, transport and retail.

On successful completion, Sheer Workplace Training issues your Statement of Attainment through RTO 45597, and you’ll then apply for your High Risk Work Licence through WorkSafe Qld. Participants must be over 18 years of age, be able to speak and understand English; understand technical concepts; and provide suitable identification.

Personal safety clothing must be provided by the student and worn during training. Sheer Workplace Training will provide additional safety equipment as required.

It is important to note that there are physical standards which relate to the level of performance required when undertaking accredited training.

There can be no exceptions to these Australian Government requirements that are clearly written into the Training Package.

Vision and hearing impaired may have issues and should seek further advise on ability levels from Transport and Main Roads and Worksafe Queensland.

Students who are unable to satisfy the physical requirements of the course cannot be deemed competent or issued with a statement of attainment, even if the qualification is a necessary part of their employment conditions.

There is approximately 6 hours of pre course reading. Students can obtain a training handbook which includes pre training reading via email, post or collection prior to training.

It is a requirement of this course that all participants are aged 18 or over at the time of assessment.

The course fee will be paid direct to Sheer Workplace Training. This course is usually arranged by the employer of a workgroup and the employer can be invoiced for the training. If the employer does not arrange the training, or the employer does not agree to fund the training, training fees must be paid by the individual student direct to the trainer.

Course fees will be communicated to you prior to confirmation of enrolment.

The forklift operator assessment process is similar in every Australian state and territory. All components of the assessment are mandatory and supplied by Safe Work Australia.

Under Workplace Health and Safety Legislation, Assessors are required to submit details of all upcoming assessments to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland’s head office in advance. Sheer Workplace Training is required to provide at least 3 business days notice before conducting any forklift assessments.

Inspectors from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland in Brisbane have the authority to conduct an unannounced audit of our assessors, the trainee and the forklift and order picker licence training facility at any time.

Assessment is conducted over one day and is made up of theory, calculations and practical elements.
