VOCS Brisbane: What a Verification of Competence Involves

Our VOCS Brisbane service provides a structured way for employers and PCBUs to confirm that operators can safely and competently use plant and equipment in real workplace conditions. A Verification of Competence (VOC) is a non-accredited assessment used to evaluate whether a worker can perform specific tasks in line with site requirements, manufacturer guidelines, and WHS obligations.

This process is commonly used for pre-employment checks, ongoing competency verification, or when workers move between sites or roles. Each assessment involves reviewing existing licences or units of competency where applicable, followed by a practical demonstration of skills and operational knowledge. Where no formal unit exists, assessment is conducted against OEM guidelines and safe operating procedures.

VOC assessments help ensure that operators maintain current skills, reduce risk on site, and meet compliance expectations across construction, civil, and related industries.

Onsite VOC Assessment Brisbane for Plant and Equipment Operators

We deliver onsite VOC assessments in Brisbane and surrounding areas, allowing businesses to verify staff competency using their own equipment and site procedures. This approach ensures assessments are relevant to actual working conditions, improving accuracy and practical value for both employers and operators.

Each VOC typically includes a review of workplace requirements, observation of machine operation, and confirmation of safe work practices such as pre-operational checks, hazard identification, and correct equipment use. Written and practical demonstrations are used to assess competency, with outcomes documented for your records.

Assessment duration varies depending on equipment type and group size, and we can accommodate individual operators or team-based assessments. Following successful completion, participants receive a VOC wallet card and documentation for non-accredited purposes, supporting site compliance and workforce capability.
